Upcoming film 'Jersey Shore Massacre' guest starring Richard Christy

April 14, 2014

Well, a dream came true for me on Saturday night when my favorite band Stryper invited me on stage to play the classing tune "Sing Along Song". I've been a Stryper fan since I was 12 years old and have been practicing drums to their songs ever since. I still can't even fathom that this happened and I'm so honored that I was asked to play with the same band who I saw at my first concert in 1988 in Springfield Missouri on the In God We Trust tour! Thank you so much to Robert Sweet for letting me play your drums and thank you so much to Michael, Oz, and Tim for inviting me to jam with you! 777!!!! Here are video links to see me jamming with Stryper and photos:

The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

Well, it's that time of year again, AKA Halloween time, AKA the BEST time of the year! For several years now to celebrate this time of the year I've attended an amazing event in Hudson Valley New York called The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze. It is a walk through event featuring thousands of expertly carved pumpkins, many of which are formed into massive displays like Dinosaurs and a massive spider web! For the past two years I've also had the honor of writing all of the music to accompany the event as you walk through it. I'm a huge fan of horror soundtracks so you can hear a lot of those influences in the music. You can order the CD here and also purchase it on Itunes as well as at the event! It's great music to enhance your Halloweening!

Until next time, Happy Halloween!

EPISODE 1: MAJESTIC LOINCLOTH 'Your Naughtiness Must Stop'

March 6, 2013

A lot of things going on here at “Richard Christy Land”, first off, I’m SOOOOO excited to announce my new cartoon Majestic Loincloth! It’s been over 10 years in the making, I started filming a live version of the story back in 2002 in Florida and thanks to the brilliant Chris Prynoski at Titmouse Animation it’s been turned into a 10 episode cartoon featured on the Rugburn Youtube Channel! The first episode airs Mid March and you can now see the trailer here!!! Directed by the brilliant Dicko Mather and featuring music from myself and Jason Suecof, Majestic Loincloth is the first ever “Heavy Metal Viking Rock Opera Homoerotic Medieval Animated Musical” and I think you’re going to love it!

I will also be appearing on Saturday April 6th at the Atlantic City Beer and Music Festival! Also known as Celebration Of The Suds! I’m a HUGE craft beer fan so this is going to be awesome! If you’re there come by and have a brew with me! For tickets and info you can go here:

I’m also in a new film coming to theaters March 8th called Adventures of Serial Buddies. I’m so psyched to see this movie, it looks like it’s going to be hilarious! I filmed my scene a few years back when I was 60 pounds heavier so now I can tell people I gained weight for the role haha! The movie has a lot of awesome people in it including my buddy Artie Lange, Maria Menounos, Christopher Lloyd, and Kathie Lee Gifford who I’m a big fan of because she and Hoda drink every morning on their show! I LOVE morning drinking on the weekends so I have a lot of respect for Kathie Lee haha! You can check out the trailer and a list of theaters it’s showing at here:

A lot of people have been asking for updates on Charred Walls of the Damned and I’m happy to say that I have about seven songs written so far and they’re sounding crushing! Hopefully by the end of this year we’ll be in the studio and we’ll have some new Charred Walls music very soon!

A lot of people have also been asking about the ultra rare Charred Walls of the Damned Beer from Burnt Hickory Brewery which I’m so excited about because I LOVE craft beer and this is one of the best Barley wines I’ve EVER tasted! Only a few bottles were made but hopefully more will be available in the future, I will definitely keep everyone posted if more is released!

I also want to let everyone know about Coheed and Cambria’s new double album The Afterman Descension & Ascension which is a freaking MASTERPIECE! I love this band and love their music and just want to let everyone know how amazing it is! They’re playing Radio City Music Hall in New York City this month which I can’t wait for!

Well I think that’s about it for now, take care and Keep it Metal!

If youíve never been to one of these events, you have to check it out, itís basically an obstacle course that you run through while hoardes of zombies chase you, itís like being in a real life zombie film, itís awesome! Itís really fun to watch too if you just come to check it out. I will have more info on this event as it gets closer and I hope to see you there! Hereís the website for the event:

What food goes better with beer than Chili? I canít think of one! Thatís why Iím going to be attending my friendís amazing Chili and Craft Beer event in Connecticut this October. Itís a fun chili cook off with band, beer and great food. Iíll be hanging and drinking beer and eating some chili if you wanna come hang! Hereís all the info, hope to see you there! In addition to Halloween, Horror Movies, Pumpkin Beer and everything about the fall, another thing that I love about the season is horror film soundtracks and scary Halloween music. I am SOOOOO excited to announce that an event that my wife and I have been attending for many years, The Great Jack 0íLantern Blaze in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, has hired me to produce their music for this yearís event! Iíve been working on this music throughout the summer and itís turned out really amazing! I canít wait for everyone to hear it! Youíll hear it as you walk through the event and if youíre a fan of Halloween and Pumpkin carving like me, then you MUST check out this event! Itís literally thousands of expertly carved pumpkins and displays that you walk through at night on the beautiful grounds of Van Cortlandt Manor in Westchester County. I tried to musically capture and enhance the feeling that you get when walking through different areas and displays at the event. The music will also be available on CD at the event to help haunt your own home and Halloween Parties! Here is more info on the event and I hope to see you there!

My favorite metal band to listen to not only year round, but especially around Halloween time is the mighty King Diamond! Thanks to my friends Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson (and also to King Diamond and my friend Monte Connor for getting the ball rolling with this whole thing) it looks like me and my wifeís pet guinea pig Taco is going to be a part of That Metal Show this Saturday night September the 8th when King Diamond is a guest! In a previous website update (which you can scroll down and see below) I wrote about how my friend Monte Connor pointed out that our guinea pig has the same makeup as King Diamond, he forwarded the picture to King, and King wrote back a hilarious email about it! I showed the picture to Eddie Trunk at Jim Florentineís wedding and he loved it and said they were going to bring it up on That Metal Show when King was on! Iím a huge That Metal Show fan and Iíve been a MASSIVE King Diamond fan since I was 12 years old, so this will be amazing if it really happens! Iím really hoping that little Taco makes it into the show, I have my metal signed fingers crossed!

A headís up about a BRILLIANT new song and video by one of my all time favorite bands Coheed and Cambria, itís called Domino The Destitute and I am totally freaking out about how epic and perfect this song is and I CANíT WAIT till their new double album comes out! I just saw Coheed with Iron Maiden for two shows in Irvine, California and they were CRUSHING! Definitely check out this video, it freakiní rules!!!

Well, I think thatís about it for now, itís going to be a very busy and fun Halloween season and I hope to see you all at one of these events to celebrate with you! Take Care and Happy Halloween! Richard Christy

Howdy everyone! Well I'm still buzzing from the excitement of my band Charred Walls of the Damned playing the Orion Music and More Fest with the Mighty Metallica. HUGE thanks to Metallica and especially Lars Ulrich for introducing us on stage which was a dream come true!!!! Also HUGE thanks to all the fans who came to see us play on the Frantic Stage! We also had an amazing warm up show in Cleveland and a huge thank you to all the fans who came to that show as well! Because of everyone in the bands busy schedule we don't get to play too often so it's always a special occasion when Charred Walls of the Damned gets to play live and these two shows were definitely special occasions!

There are some pictures from Orion Fest courtesy of Vince Edwards and Eric Elkins on the Photo page if you'd like to check them out and here's some Youtube Videos of our performance at Orion and Cleveland that fans have posted for your enjoyment!

Big thanks also to Tim Owens, John Comprix, Matt Sorg, and Ed Stephens who totally ripped it up at these shows! You guys rule!

Well, until next time, Happy July 4th everybody and keep it Metal!!!!

Well after many months of post-production the Charred Walls of the Damned video for the song "Zerospan" is finally released! You can check it out here! Leaving Grunion County, Legend of the Black Eye, T-Back The Bare Assed Carnal Knight and Manlanta!

I'm really psyched that one of the best Heavy Metal Radio Shows in the midwest, The Pit with Drewcifer has chosen Charred Walls of the Damned's Cold Winds on Timeless Days as one of its Top 13 albums of 2011! I definitely agree with the rest of their list too, especially number one!

February 23, 2012

Well, it’s been a little while since I’ve had time to update my site so I’ll go ahead and get to all the goodies right now! It was great meeting all of the fans at the 2012 NAMM show in California in January! Everyone was so nice and I had a great time signing autographs at the Vater and DDrum booths! There’s some cool pictures of my Vater singing here: I’ll also have some video and pics of my DDrum signing very soon! I also got to see a lot of old friends at NAMM that I haven’t seen in a while, including my good buddy Oscar from Hammerfall, with whom I participated in a rousing, drunken edition of our favorite Waffle House song, which you can see here!

This Tuesday is the release date from Relapse Records for the Death album Vivus, which is a live album containing two shows from the Sound of Perseverance era lineup featuring myself, Chuck Schuldiner, Shannon Hamm, and Scott Clendenin. The album was recorded at two different shows in 1998, the first at the Dynamo Festival in Holland which was in front of over 40,000 people! The second show was at the legendary Whiskey club in Hollywood, CA. I’m so proud to be a part of this album, and to have been a part of my favorite band Death, and listening to these songs bring back a lot of great memories. If you’re a Death fan then you will LOVE this album, it’s raw, unpolished, no overdubs, just pure metal! You can pick up the album, and some amazing Death merch here: Here’s a really cool article about the release and about the history of Death: Long live the metal God Chuck Schuldiner, I’m so honored to have been Chuck’s friend and bandmate and a big thank you to Chuck’s family, Eric Greif, Shannon Hamm, Scott Clendenin, everyone at Relapse Records, and everyone who helped make the Death and Control Denied reissue albums possible!

I’m so excited to announce that the Charred Walls of the Damned video for the song “Zerospan” will premier VERY soon! It’s something we’ve been working on since September of last year and it is going to be well worth the wait! I’m so excited for everyone to see this video! As soon as we have a solid release date I will announce it here for sure! I’ve also been doing a lot of interviews to promote the new Charred Walls of the Damned album “Cold Winds on Timeless Days” which is available everywhere now, the newest interview you can find here: and I will be putting tons of new interviews on my Media page as well!

I wanna let everyone also know about one of the coolest things EVER that happened to me recently that involves my new guinea pig named Taco and my favorite singer King Diamond! I know you’re probably wondering how in the hell does one have to do with the other? Well it’s all thanks to my buddy Monte Connor over at Roadrunner Records, who saw a picture of my new Guinea Pig and made me aware that he has the same coloring as King Diamond’s Mercyful Fate era makeup! So I made up a little photoshopped picture that you can see below and sent it back to Monte. Well, Monte forwarded the picture to THE King Diamond, and King wrote back the following hilarious email which King gave Monte and I permission to reprint:

"Hi Monte,

I see my experiments from back when I was a lab assistant has born fruit. I had to leave the experiment before it was completed, but my fellow scientists promised they would see the project through to the end for me.

Hail to my fellow scientists for having succeeded so well.

Let me tell you, getting the cross perfect on the forehead was by far the hardest thing. It seemed like some divine hand had kept interfering. But as you can see for yourself, our will has prevailed.

I'm so glad to see they finally released the first batch to the public.

Hail again, and all the best!

Stay Heavy,

WOW! I was totally blown away that one of my idols took the time to write an email about my new guinea pig!!! And the email is hilarious! I’ve been on cloud 9 (or cloud 666 if you will) ever since, and I just wanted to share that with everyone and thank Monte and King for making me and Taco’s year with that amazing email! Well, I think that’s about it for now, I’ll have updates about the Zerospan video VERY soon, and I will be sure to see you all at some of the Iron Maiden/Coheed and Cambria shows, which is a dream come true tour for me!!! I’m so psyched for that one!!! Take Care!

Richard Christy's Charred Walls of the Damned recently filmed a video for Zerospan. The track is one of the most popular songs from Cold Winds On Timeless Days, the most recent album from the super group. A trailer for the video has been made available HERE. Videos from the album's recording process are available including: Richard Christy Hit Factory Tour, Admire The Heroes studio drum tracking, Guiding Me studio drum tracking and more HERE.

Richard Christy talks about the concept behind the video:
"What we're crafting with the "Zerospan" video is a five minute technological horror film set to blistering heavy metal! We had such an amazing filmmaking team for the "Zerospan" video. We had Directors Mike Schiff (Charred Walls 'Ghost Town' video) and Sean McEwan (Albino Farm) who are super talented and have brought some incredible ideas! We also had amazing special effects makeup by Brian Spears and Pete Gerner from G and S Effects who recently did the amazing vampire film "Stakeland"! Our lead actor Bryan Haeffele did amazing as well, and people are going to freak when they see the creature effects in this video! We're going to spend some time editing and making it perfect and we're looking to a January 2012 release date! We wanted to release this quick little teaser to give everyone a taste of the horrifying awesomeness that will be the "Zerospan" video! Trust me, it is going to be well worth the wait!"

Cold Winds On Timeless Days has received heaps of praise from press, see what's been said so far below.

"a 58-minute barrage of cutting-edge power metal abounding with tumbling polyrhythms, asymmetrical riffs, and unconventional arrangements. Though technically demanding, the songs are focused by the tuneful, vibrato-laden vocals of Tim "Ripper Owens and the crafty guitar work and stellar production of Jason Suecof." 4/5 stars, Revolver Magazine

"Charred Walls of the Damned are a rarity in the metal world ó a supergroup thatís actually super…I defy you to listen to it and not raise a pair of invisible elephantiasis-afflicted nuts towards the sky. Itís impossible. It just canít be done."

"It's smart, it's melodic, and it's sure to get the head banging. A quality slice of US metal." Big Cheese Magazine

"complicated riffs and numerous tempo shifts…the musicianship is flawless…technical skill is top-notch"

Charred Walls of the Damned release first single, details for new album

Cold Winds on Timeless Days to be released October 11th, 2011

Charred Walls of the Damned returns with the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut! Richard Christy, Tim "Ripper" Owns, Jason Suecof and Steve DiGiorgio once again join forces to bring to life Christy's latest body of work, Cold Winds on Timeless Days. The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Richard Christy used his experience on the first album to write songs that catered not only to each member's playing style, but to Jason Suecof's production style. The result: demos that turned out nearly identical to what ended up on the album.

With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting a lot more music this time around. Recording twelve songs in a short amount of time is no easy feat, but one that was accomplished because of the stellar talents in the band. Christy elaborates further; "I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much." Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a "perfect storm of producing" Ė Audiohammer's Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.

Fans can hear the first single, Zerospan, as well as place pre-orders now on The album can also be pre-ordered on iTunes HERE. Additionally, Richard Christy will be on air with SiriusXM Liquid Metal's Jose Mangin today Tuesday August 23rd for an interview and to premiere the track on air. March 30, 2011

Well, it's been quite a while since my last update. Between work, several concerts, beerfests, KU in the NCAA tournament, getting ready for my upcoming wedding, and recording the second Charred Walls of the Damned album, it's been a very busy 2011 so far!
First off, the second Charred Walls of the Damned album is coming along amazingly! Drums and guitars are done, and we're currently getting ready to record the bass and vocals. This album is going to be incredible, I'm so proud of it. I can't wait for all of the fans to hear it, if you liked the first album, you're definitely going to love this album! It's going to be super melodic, have plenty of blast beats, plenty of super catchy vocal parts, heavy guitars, and insane bass parts! We're hoping for a September or October release on Metal Blade Records!
I have a new feature on where I list several of my favorite drumming parts. It's a really cool article and I talk about all of my drumming influences and there are links included where you can listen to all of the drum parts that I talk about! You can check it out here:

In other Charred Walls of the Damned news, an amazing musician from Europe named Vika recently did a piano cover version of the CWOTD song “In A World So Cruel” and it sounds really cool! You can check it out here:

The new Amon Amarth album Surtur Rising comes out today and it is CRUSHING! I've been listening to it nonstop in the past few weeks and I'm so psyched when a metal album comes out that you can listen to all the way through without stopping, and this is definitely one of those albums! The double bass/chorus riff in The Last Stand of Frej is maybe the greatest riff I've ever heard! It's so heavy and catchy! I can't wait to see them live in May!
Also, my proudest work as a drummer, Death's 1998 album The Sound of Perseverance special edition reissue is out now on Relapse Records! Relapse, Eric Greif, and Chuck’s family did an amazing job putting together beautiful packaging and some amazing bonus materials for this special edition release! You can follow this link to check it out!

A lot of people have been asking me how I lost 65 pounds in the past year so I might as well give a plug to the Iphone app that helped me lose all the weight. It’s called Lose It and it worked amazingly for me. The best part about it is that it’s free and I didn’t have to stop drinking craft beer!!!!
My good buddy and also guitarist for Charred Walls of the Damned, Jason Suecof, recently did a really cool interview for the website Metal Injection, and if you watch at the very end you can see him do his “near spot on” imitation of me!

Myself and my coworker at The Howard Stern Show, Sal Governale, were recently featured on which is pretty awesome!

Well, I think that’s about it for now, I will have plenty more Charred Walls of the Damned second album updates in the coming weeks and months! Until next time, drink good beer and keep it metal!

January 4, 2011

Hey Everybody, well I have some really exciting news about my band Charred Walls of the Damned! Last week I recorded drum tracks for 12 new songs for the second Charred Walls of the Damned album! I flew down to Miami, Florida the day after Christmas to start tracking drums at the legendary studio The Hit Factory Criteria Studios. The drum room we recorded in was insane, it was the size of a school gymnasium and my drums sounded massive in there! We got a very natural drum sound thanks to our awesome engineer Mark Lewis and the amazing drum room, everything went really smooth and we finished up in a very quick two and a half days, and I'm super excited for everyone to hear the monster drum sound we got for these awesome songs. Seeing gold albums hanging on the walls from bands like The Eagles and Black Sabbath was so inspiring too, the historic music that's been created at that studio is just unreal and it was an honor to record the drums for the second Charred Walls of the Damned album there. We'll be finishing up the rest of the album in January and February at Audiohammer Studios in Orlando and we're hoping to have the album out some time this summer. The songs are super heavy, brutal, and very melodic and catchy like the first album, I can't wait for people to hear our new material! I'll have many more updates in the coming months and I also took tons of video in the studio that I'll be posting here on my site and also possibly including in a bonus DVD when our second CD comes out. I'm posting some cool photos from our drum recording for everyone to check out too, and until the next update I would like to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and Metal New Year!
